SPECIES: Arabica

ALTITUDE AT WHICH GROWN: 4,900 - 6,000 ft.

Organic coffee farming ensures that shade-friendly varieties of coffee are planted. Chemically dependent, full-sun hybrids or genetically modified coffee trees cannot (by law) be used. The purchase of Certified-Organic coffee ensures it is not grown using any of the common pesticides, herbicides and fungicides used on coffee. Certified-Organic coffees offer a premium. The organic farming coupled with the region's unusual micro tropical climate combine to produce a heavy bodied and pleasantly spicy coffee with liquor-like character and a mild acidity.

The Typica and bourbon coffee is cultivated in the mountain regions of Bolivia at an altitude of 4,900 - 6,000 feet above sea level, principally from colonies such as Central Illimani, Villa Caturapi, Collasuyo, Buen Pasto, Magallanes, Alto Ascensión and Chuma.
