GEOGRAPHY & CLIMATE:

Central America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Nicaragua and Panama.

Coastal plains separated by rugged mountains including over 100 volcanic cones, of which several are major volcanoes. Tropical and subtropical; dry season (December to April); rainy season (May to November); cooler in highlands.

COFFEE BACKGROUND:

Coffee came to Costa Rica in the last decade of the eighteenth century. Its arrival on the national scene was discrete, but definitive. Slowly and with the perseverance that great works demand, coffee growing expanded over the high lands of the Central Valley. The brotherhood of the coffee farmers, both large and small, formed the basis that allowed Costa Rica to become the first Central American country to establish coffee as an industry.

SPECIES: Arabica

ALTITUDE AT WHICH GROWN: 2,500 - 5,000 ft.

The Tarrazu region enjoys the perfect climatical combination of the Atlantic and Pacific influence. The coffee is grown on the steep slopes of the Tarrazu mountains (grown over 3900 Feet) producing lightly roasted, light bodied coffee with a rich, powerful flavor and intense aroma.

PREPARATION METHOD: “Washed”
